In a campaign season packed with vicious attacks, it takes a lot to stand out. But Vivek Ramaswamy has done just that with what will likely go down as the ugliest campaign ad of the year.
The ad targets Amy Acton, a physician and Ohio’s Democratic nominee for governor, and features Acton's estranged mother, Donna Arthur. As my colleague Abby Vesoulis writes, "the last time Acton says she saw her mom in person was the day her stepfather, Cledith 'Bud' Arthur, was charged with raping her as a minor...Now, Donna Arthur is starring in a new ad condemning her estranged daughter as someone who has 'lied her entire life.'"
Yes, you read that correctly. A Republican ad is exploiting a Democrat's childhood rape and abuse for political gain. If that wasn't atrocious enough, JD Vance's response to the outrage will leave you reeling.
