Hi, I'm Jacob Rosenberg, an editor here at Mother Jones.
As Donald Trump prepares to return to the White House, he has made clear that retribution will be one of his top priorities. Though the exact targets are not yet concrete, the list of political enemies he has called on to jail or prosecute over the years offers a strong indication: Adam Schiff, for instance. The “Biden crime family. And Hillary Clinton (“lock her up!”).
But, more broadly, Trump’s return to power has long been predicated on the idea that you have been attacked by them. Not just by establishment politicians. But the very political decline that requires MAGA to re-Great America in the first place—at least according to Trump: political protesters, the media, women, undocumented immigrants, US citizens with families who are undocumented, union workers, government employees, trans people, sick people, scientists, and, by not addressing climate change, the earth.
This list might seem long. But the truth is that it barely scratches the surface. That’s where we need help. We want to talk to you.
We hope to understand some of the dangers and dynamics that may be percolating but aren’t covered every day in the media. We want to hear from you about the food bank that you fear will lose funding. The personal stories of people who will be directly harmed by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy when they gut social safety nets.
So please send us your stories. How are you—or members of your community—being targeted by the next Trump administration? What are the personal stories of folks that you fear will happen when his policies are implemented? And how are people preparing to fight back?
Let us know.
