Thoughts on Joe Biden's letter to congressional Democrats? Are you satisfied? Panicking? If you don't know how to feel, you are not alone. According to reports of this morning's private meeting among House Democrats, a consensus on Biden's candidacy has hardly emerged.
Either way, it's worth pointing out a serious problem in one of the central arguments Biden makes to defend his refusal to leave the race: that he won a Democratic nomination process. As my colleague Tim Murphy writes today:
If you think it was a real primary, I guess I would ask: When were the debates? That’s not a minor question. Biden’s inability to effectively make his case in front of 50 million people is the reason we’re all talking about this right now.
I can't help but agree with Tim here. Yes, there is indeed a case for Biden to stay. But this isn't it! And if Biden physically cannot muster the strength to convince voters otherwise, he should rely on his VP. As my colleague Jamilah King writes, Kamala Harris can help defeat Donald Trump—and yes, either way.
