Christie on a Trump brawl: ‘I’d kick his ass’

“Look at him, Arnold Schwarzenegger,” the former New Jersey governor said jokingly.

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie looks on as President Donald Trump speaks at a podium in the White House press briefing room.

Move over, Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. There could be a juicer cage match on the horizon.

With the potential billionaire brawl on his mind, journalist Piers Morgan asked Chris Christie, former President Donald Trump’s most outspoken GOP presidential competitor, who’d win if the two politicians went head-to-head — and not on the debate stage.

“If you and Trump got in the ring,” Morgan asked Thursday night, “who’d win?”

To Christie, the answer’s obvious.

“The guy’s 78 years old, I’d kick his ass,” the 60-year-old former New Jersey governor responded. (Trump is actually 77.)

When asked for comment, Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung didn’t elaborate on who would win. Instead, he offered a suggestion: “Chris Christie should think before he opens his mouth,” Cheung told POLITICO in an email.

Since announcing his presidential bid for the GOP nomination, Christie’s strategy has been to consistently target Trump, the Republican frontrunner. Trump hasn’t backed down, bashing the former governor occasionally, including about his appearance.

“He has mocked your weight,” Morgan said.

“Look at him, Arnold Schwarzenegger,” Christie said jokingly, before elaborating on his own struggles with his weight. “For him to be such a child, an infant, and make those kinds of remarks … what he should do first is work on himself.”

Trump’s a documented fan of sports fighting, receiving cheers when he made an appearance at the UFC 290 in Las Vegas.

As for who would win the potential fight between Musk and Zuckerberg?

“If I were Elon, I would be a little bit worried,” Christie said.
