Comics legend George Pérez reveals terminal cancer diagnosis

George Pérez delivered the harrowing news via his Facebook page.

Acclaimed comics creator George Pérez has revealed on his Facebook page that he has Stage 3 pancreatic cancer. The comics creator who changed superhero comics forever said the cancer is surgically inoperable and he has a life expectancy of six to twelve months.

Pérez is known for incredibly detailed artistry in works like Crisis on Infinite Earths, and co-creating White Tiger and Infinity Gauntlet, to name a few. He recently contributed to an interview about White Tiger in Marvel’s Voices: Community #1. His contributions to comics storytelling and artistry changed the industry forever.

Pérez retired from comics in 2019 due to his health. He is currently 67 years old.
